SKIN OF YEARS: NUDISM AND THE AGING BODY

This work is the culmination of an interdisciplinary project examining the embodied experiences of senior citizens who practice social nudism. It was conceived and conducted by artist, Ghislaine Fremaux-Valdez, and gerontologist and social scientist, Dr. Jean Pearson Scott. A participant sample of ten nudists over sixty years of age took part in the project.

The drawings intend to make trouble with the artistic trope of "the nude" and to challenge cultural attitudes toward, and representations of, aging bodies.

Each piece is partnered with a sheet of wall text, featuring excerpts from the subject's interview.
